Who is Mizilca?

Mizilca is a mother, a mystic, a mover, a mythologist, a musician, and a maker of many beautiful things—especially smiles.

She has created a unique approach to belly dancing as a discipline for body-mind-spirit development and chakra exploration.

Drawing upon more than twenty years of study in various styles of dance and movement—ballet, tap, jazz, gymnastics, karate, tai chi, yoga, kundalini, circle and folk dances, social dances, and bellydance in its numerous forms—Mizilca is a dynamic teacher and performer.

She might amaze you with her balancing tricks, amuse you with her spritely charm, or surprise you with her sudden acrobatic stunts.

As a teacher, she guides women deeply into their bodies and the Earth to proudly don their Shakti selves.

She keeps numerous stories and poems ready for the telling to recall one and all back to remembrance of Divinity.

Mizilca has danced with Baraka Mundi, based in Asheville, NC, since its inception in 2001. She is currently focusing on developing her own work and new collaborations with various dancers and musicians

She has performed at numerous venues throughout the southeast, including arts and music festivals, Renaissance Fairs, weddings, schools and colleges, rituals, civic centers, galleries, museums, restaurants, grand openings, benefits, and a pilot TV show.
